$90,000 OTF GRANT FROM THE ONTARIO GOVERNMENT GIVES COMMUNITY AN OUTDOOR GATHERING SPACE
Embro, ON – On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, local MPP Ernie Hardeman and Mayor Marcus Ryan will attend a Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the outdoor pavilion at Embro-Zorra Community Centre. This community-initiated project was funded by the Zorra Township, several community groups and a $90,000 grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The new pavilion will provide a large, outdoor, fully accessible space for the community to hold sporting, cultural and social events.
“It’s great to see the result of the hard work that went into the planning and fundraising for this wonderful space,” said Ernie Hardeman, MPP for Oxford. “With the help of the provincial funding, Zorra Township has been able to create another accessible space for the community to enjoy.”
The 40’ by 80’ covered pavilion structure is equipped with plumbing and electrical and has accessible picnic tables to ensure everyone in the community can benefit. It will be used for major events such as the Embro Highland Games and Embro Fall Fair.
“This funding from the OTF has been instrumental in completing this project in 2024, just in time for the Embro Highland Games,” said Sofia Caldwell, Manager of Recreation and Facilities. “It will serve as a community hub and provide a much-needed venue for events and celebrations.”
Zorra is a vibrant, prosperous, engaged and environmentally conscious community that evokes pride in residents for its accomplishments and continuing resilience as it forges the future.
