Update on Recreation Fees and Facility Rental Rates
On October 16, 2024, Zorra Council approved an update to Fees By-law 11-09, introducing changes to recreation and facility rental rates, effective January 1, 2025.
Zorra Township's rental rates and drop-in programs have remained largely unchanged in recent years. To ensure that our fees remain affordable while adequately covering operating costs, we conducted a thorough review of our Recreation Fees & Charges. This review has led to several updates aimed at better aligning our rates with those of comparable municipalities. Revenue generated from these fees will be reinvested to purchase new equipment and maintain our facilities, enhancing your overall experience.
Key Changes in the Updated By-law:
- Service-Wide Fee Adjustments: A broad increase in fees to align with current market rates and improve cost recovery across various services.
- New Age-Based Rate Categories: Reduced rates for youth and seniors, set at 70% of the adult rate.
- Instructor-Led Program Fees: New, specific rates for classes and programs with instructors.
- Minor Sports Non-Prime Rate: A new rate designed to encourage greater facility use during off-peak hours.
- Hourly Fitness and Meeting Fees: A shift from a half-day minimum charge to an hourly fee structure.
- Consolidation of General Event Fees: A unified fee structure for events such as banquets, funerals, and other functions.
