Boards and Committees

The Township of Zorra looks for engaged citizens to participate on several boards and committees. Our boards and committees are comprised of various Zorra Township residents, Township Staff, and/or members of Council. Membership of Boards and Committees is renewed every four years, with the change of Council. Details of these committees are outlined below. Please contact the Township Clerk for more information regarding committees at 519-485-2490.

To view agendas and minutes for any meeting, please search the Township Meetings Calendar. Should you require a copy of a Council or Committee document, or would like to request a document in an alternate format, please contact the Township Clerk. View notice about Zorra's move to iCompass for all Council and Committee documents.

Task forces are groups established to work on a defined task, activity, or a specific problem. Task forces are typically short in duration and operate much more informally than Township committees do. The idea behind task forces is that they will allow residents to participate, remain informed, offer suggestions, and provide meaningful input without the bureaucratic formalities that committees need to operate under.

The Township currently has one active task force – the Cultural Mapping Task Force (CMTF). The CMTF began meeting in December 2022 and are working towards creating a cultural map for the Township of Zorra. For more information on the CMTF and cultural mapping, please click on the links below. The task force meetings are scheduled as needed and posted on our Community Calendar. All are welcome to attend. Please email Alycia Wettlaufer or Maggie McLaughlin if you have any further questions.

For any inquiries regarding Task Forces, please contact Alycia Wettlaufer by email.

Project Update as of April 2025: FUNDRAISING COMPLETED!

The Township would like to extend a big congratulations and thank you to all past and present committee members. Since 2019, the ZMCC has worked tirelessly to raise funds for the Multi-Use Courts project. Thank you to the Chair, Andrew Goodwin, Deputy Mayor Katie Grigg, and committee members Brenda Carnahan, Julie Riley, Kate Lockhart, Libby Wilkinson and Rebecca Ruddy.

Where will the courts be built?

The courts will be constructed on parkland that has been donated to the Township by Kingwood Development, for the construction of these courts. The parkland will be off Brock Street and the George Street extension. This central location offers an exciting opportunity to become part of a vibrant community and recreational hub, complete with ample parking and sports fields at the future adjacent elementary school.

When will the courts be constructed?

There is important infrastructure and grading that must be completed within the Kingwood Development before this project can begin construction. The Request for Proposal will be issued in 2026 once this work is complete.

How can we keep updated on this project?

Keep checking back here and the Zorra Multi-Use Courts Committee Facebook page to stay informed of project milestones.

We want to extend a big, heartfelt thank you to our many donors who have made this possible!

How can I learn more?
