Notice of Public Meeting - Building Permit Fee Increase

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Zorra will hold a public meeting on the 17th day of January, 2024, at 9:45 a.m., in the Council Chambers (274620 27th Line) in order to consider proposed updates to the Building By-Law under Section 7 of the Building Code Act.

PURPOSE AND EFFECT
Council of the Township of Zorra will be considering an amendment to the Township of Zorra’s Building By-Law to increase 2024 building permit fees by 3.6% which is consistent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This fee adjustment would be effective February 1, 2024. Moving forward, an annual building permit fee levy consistent with CPI would be applied to building permit fees and would be effective January 1 each year.

Please note: A Public Meeting would be held each year and 21 days notice prior to the meeting would be provided.
In addition to the proposed fee adjustment, other housekeeping updates to the by-law are also being proposed to be made at that time.

Postal Disruption Notice

Canada Post mail service to and from the Township of Zorra may be interrupted due to the postal disruption. For time-sensitive documents, there is a 24-hour mail slot outside of the Zorra Municipal Centre located at 163 Brock Street in Thamesford.

Winter Parking Restrictions

Winter parking restrictions will be enforced every year from November 15th to March 31st. Parking is not permitted on any road or street from 1:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., seven (7) days a week during this period, as the streets need to be clear of vehicles in case of the need for snow removal. Any vehicle owner found in violation of this by-law could be fined or have their vehicle removed/towed at owners expense.
