The Township of Zorra is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant of $259,667 from the Government of Ontario to upgrade aging refrigeration components and lighting at the Embro-Zorra Community Centre and Thamesford District Recreation Centre.

This investment will allow the Township to address critical infrastructure needs at both facilities over the next two years – improving safety, enhancing energy efficiency and ensuring optimal conditions for ice programs. Planned upgrades include a condenser replacement in Thamesford, a chiller replacement in Embro, as well as waste heat desuperheaters and new LED parking lot lighting at both centres.

“I thank the Government of Ontario, and MPP Hardeman in particular, for believing in small communities and the big difference local infrastructure makes,” said Mayor Marcus Ryan. “We’re excited to move forward with this project and deliver lasting benefits for our residents.”

Residents are encouraged to read the accompanying statement from MPP Ernie Hardeman, which provides further detail on the funding provided within Oxford County.

This funding was provided through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF) – a $200-million, application-based program designed to support Ontario’s growing communities through the renewal and development of local sport and recreation facilities.
